THE HOST

Mark Lloyd

Mark Lloyd, host of The Smart Set Live, smiling in front of a neon sign and a greenery wall.

I host because I genuinely love trivia — researching it, writing it, and watching a table finally land on the answer they’d been circling for five minutes. The shows are built to feel classic: team debate, pen and paper, no apps, no second screens. They just move faster than people expect.

Every night is part curation and part creation. Questions come from widely known facts and reputable references, then get written to be clear, fairly worded, and worth arguing about. Accuracy matters more than cleverness, cheap trick wording doesn’t make the cut, and the subject matter stays broad enough that a mixed table can all contribute something.

Competitive, entertaining, and not easy. You leave having laughed, learned something, and already planning who to recruit next time. Think long, think wrong. Trust your gut.
